Deciduous trees are often referred to in more general terms as 'shade trees'--and as the name suggests, that is one of the most valuable attributes trees of this type exhibit. Although known mainly for large, shade-giving leaves, which tend to grow densely in an upright fashion, there is nonetheless a vast range of types of deciduous trees. While they may lose their leaves in the late fall, the spectacular showing from early spring, when the first delicate buds appear, to late fall when all the glory of their autumn tones appears-- makes these one of the more interesting forms in landscapes today. Add to such steadfast beauty the many types of blooms, leaf shapes, trunk and bark forms, the shade-giving deciduous trees are the key element to many landscape designs.
